Luxury online interiors, jewellery and craft product brand Artemest is marking its official UK website launch with an exhibition at Maison Assouline running this week until Sunday (June 18).

With Artemest focusing on handmade, artisan products, the exhibition has been put together to give visitors exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the world of Italian craftsmanship and design.

The venue has been well-chosen. Publisher Assouline’s first international flagship store is on Piccadilly in London in a historic building and has become a destination for culture and lifestyle products and events.

The one-of-a-kind products on show have been selected from over 7,000 available on Artemest and come with a series of short documentaries to “enrich the storytelling” and tell a more in-depth story about Italian craft and design skills.

Artemest is an interesting concept. Founded by Ippolita Rostagno and Marco Credendino in 2015, the creative platform offers a selection of products made by more than 290 Italian artisans and designers representing both modern and traditional design approaches. That means woodworkers, Murano glass specialist, crafts people working in marble, ceramics and precious metals, and master glasssmiths, goldsmiths, designers and artists.

With the stories behind the products forming a key part of their marketing, the Artemest site mixes a strong content element alongside the pure commercial aspect. It claims to be the largest largest network of high-end Italian artisans and small businesses.

The UK debut comes as the company plans to expand Artemest's presence offline as well as online “and to promote tradition, culture and excellence of Italian craftsmanship throughout the world,” said Credendino.
