Online fashion platform Goat named Lizzie Francis as its first chief operating officer on Monday.

Lizzie Francis, COO at Goat - Goat

The new role was formed as Goat plans a global expansion, which Francis will oversee, along with the operation of both Goat and Flight Club's retail and online marketplaces.

She will also focus on improving the sneaker shopping experience for Goat's female user base, which has experienced significant growth over the past year.

Goat announced in February that it would merge with premium sneaker consignment retailer Flight Club, powered by a $60 million investment.

"Goat has done a remarkable job of scaling into the largest marketplace for authentic sneakers," said Francis, in a news statement. "I admire the impact both of its brands have made in the space -- pioneering a service that uniquely addresses the demands and needs of sneaker shoppers and sellers -- with a model that points to what the future of commerce can be. I'm excited to help continue innovating on the way we discover, buy and sell sneakers."

Francis joins Goat from Brilliant Ventures where she was a Founder and Partner. Prior to that, she served as Chief Marketing Officer of Gilt Groupe, and was Chief Marketing Officer and President of JustFab.com (now TechStyle Fashion Group).

She will report to CEO and Co-founder, Eddy Lu.

Goat now operates three offices and three retail locations in the United States, with 400 employees and $97.6 million venture funding to date.
