In March, the clothing brand launched an interactive, surf-themed game. Now Hollister has launched a second retro, 16-bit style game this time with a skateboarding theme to promote its jeans collection.

Launching on Friday, Hollister’s new game is available on the TreSensa platform and will be promoted through social media channels such as Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook. Like its surfing predecessor, the retro-influenced game lets users play as characters Waxer or Betty as they navigate obstacles. The skateboarding-themed game is set in Venice, California, featuring iconic landmarks such as the area’s boardwalk and bike path.

With its surfing release, Hollister exceeded expectations with the game earning more than 27.6 million impressions through the month of March. The brand calls the game a “more engaging and meaningful way for Hollister to interact with its core teen audience” and is part of its strategy to capture the Gen Z audience.

In May, Hollister launched a YouTube series titled This is Summer, which followed a group of high school seniors and juniors throughout their summer. Hollister released the episodes on Awesomeness TV’s YouTube channel and also created a Spotify playlist in conjunction with the series.

Abercrombie & Fitch, which owns both the Hollister and Abercrombie brands, revealed in its first quarter earnings report in May that the Hollister brand saw a 3 percent rise in same-store sales, which had been flat for two years.
