This time it is official. On Friday 15th July, Japanese group Wacoal has confirmed the acquisition of lingerie brand Huit by the Trendy Capital group, owner of nightwear brand Canat.

Huit

FashionMag Premium had reported the news on 11th July, following the ruling in favour of Canat by the trade court in Rennes, France. The company that operated Huit had gone into receivership last April. It was not the first receivership instance for Huit however. Back in 2010, the brand was in the same situation when it was acquired by the Wacoal group.

In a press release, Wacoal painted the picture of a "highly complicated and highly saturated market" which did not allow Huit to get back on its feet, despite the efforts that were made.

Wacoal stated that the company has now become Huit France. The Japanese group, via its Wacoal Europe subsidiary, stressed that it will continue to support Huit for the next two seasons, in order to assure a smooth hand-over. This will be the case for all markets, including the UK, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany, as well as Huit's Asian distributors.
