In order to reinforce its leadership, the leading eyewear brand Italia Independent announced the arrival of three new directors. They will provide support to Giovanni Carlino, who was appointed general director last November.

The company's director, Giovanni Carlino, and president, Lapo Elkann - Italia Independent

These appointments are part of the company’s restructuring following a disastrous 2016. Last year saw a net loss of 12.45 million euros, after seeing their numbers fall 30.2 percent to 27.68 million euros.

The management reshuffle includes Giuseppe La Boria becoming global director of sales. According to the company, his responsibilities will include “the company’s commercial policies, the development of international markets, and sales in Italy and abroad.” La Baoria has worked in the eyewear sector for 20 years, with stints in major companies like Safilo and Luxottica.

The second appointment names Alberto Lapucci as the new director of marketing, who will also be in charge of the brand’s licensing deals. His role will focus on “evaluating and growing Italia Independent’s visibility, reinforcing existing collaborations and finding future partners,” the brand explained. Lapucci performed similar roles for Marcolin and Kering Eyewear.

The third new addition to the leadership is Amandine Perrier, who previously worked for Alain Mikli, Etnia Barcelona and Kering Eyewear. Perrier is the new director of Italia Independent’s Spanish subsidiary.
