DAKAR, May 21, 2010 (AFP) - Kidnapped Senegalese fashion designer Mame Fagueye Ba was found Friday 21 May by police outside of Togo's capital Lome, the Senegalese APS news agency reported.

"The fashion designer was found in a house in the Lome suburb of Aveposo by police," the news agency quoted a source as saying.

Fagueye, who was kidnapped on Thursday 20 May along with four other people, was taken to a police station where she was resting before being questioned by investigators, the source added.

Police arrested several suspects but were still looking for the organiser of the kidnapping. No information was available on the four other people kidnapped along with Fagueye.

Dakar-based Fagueye -- who as a costume designer has worked on several Senegalese movies and won prizes for her creations -- had travelled to Lome to negotiate a contract, according to APS.

She opened Espace Fagueye in 2001, a cultural project to promote African arts from film to music and design, and was voted the best designer in West Africa at the Ecofest festival the following year.

Her prizes have included the MNet 98 award for the wardrobe she created for Moussa Sene Absa's film "Tableau Ferraille de Moussa".
