TEL AVIV, June 9 (Reuters) - French L'Oreal (OREP.PA), the world's largest cosmetics group, is in talks with generic drugmaker Perrigo (PRGO.O) (PRGO.TA) about buying Israeli cosmetics company Careline, the Maariv newspaper reported on Tuesday 9 June.

The companies were not immediately available for comment.

Perrigo said last month it was seeking a buyer for Careline, which it acquired part of its acquisition of Agis in 2005.

Careline describes itself as the largest cosmetics and toiletry manufacturer in Israel. No financial details were immediately available.

A Careline spokesman told Maariv the company was in talks with several possible buyers but gave no further details.

The newspaper said consumer goods giant Unilever (ULVR.L) (UNc.AS) also had an interest in Careline.

The newspaper said Perrigo had hired Poalim Capital Markets and William Blair & Co to value Careline.
