Le Col to launch Bradley Wiggins cycling apparel line

UK-based premium cycling apparel brand Le Col is teaming up with one of the sport’s biggest names to launch Le Col by Wiggins.

Yanto Barker and Sir Bradley Wiggins

Tour de France and Olympic champion Sir Bradley Wiggins is a hugely bankable name both for cycling insiders and for the wider public and the new line certainly has plenty of potential for sales to both committed and occasional cyclists.

The line will debut later this year and the deal also includes Le Col becoming the technical kit supplier for the professional Team Wiggins, which means its current deal with Rapha will end.

The company said the sports star is fully involved in design and product development and is working closely with Le Col founder Yanto Barker, himself a former professional cyclist with the two having trained together as Team GB juniors two decades ago.

We don’t know what the line will look like as no images have been released but the company said that items will “bring [his] unmistakable style, appealing to all those who want to perform and look their best on the bike.”

Sir Bradley said: “I’ve always wanted to develop a cycling brand that brings cyclists the ultimate blend of professional performance and style. With a range that caters for committed club cyclists, social riders, through to supporting and inspiring juniors with seriously great performance kit.”

He said linking with Le Col was “a no-brainer, as I know Yanto shares [my] passion and produces the best technical kit on the market.”

Barker meanwhile said that he has spoken to “Brad” regularly “about performance and design” since launching Le Col in 2011 “so in a sense he was involved in Le Col from the very start.”

He also said the pair plan to launch “the most technical and stylish cycling product on the market.”
