Marcolin grabs exclusive world licensing deal for Swarovski glasses

MILAN, 21 July 2009 (Reuters) – Marcolin (MCL.MI) has signed an exclusive world licensing agreement for the production and distribution of Swarovski brand glasses. The licence will last for five years and can be renewed for a further five years.

The first collection produced will be sunglasses for spring-summer 2011 and will be closely followed by spectacles. Marcolin, which since 2007 has produced around 5.5 million glasses, already holds licences for Ferrari, Cavalli, Tod’s and many other designers.
Shares were worth €1.60 on the stock exchange on the 21st of July, having risen 5.96% (from €1.53), with some 100,000 units traded – much higher than the daily average.
