Swiss watch brand Mido, founded November 11, 1918, is celebrating its centenary this year with festivities paying homage to the visionary spirit of its founder, Georges Schaeren. Celebrations kicked off with the launch of the new "Commander Big Date" series, for which Mido has developed a movement with a large date window.

As its name suggests, the "Commander Big Date" features a large date window positioned at six o' clock. The aperture is eye-catching in size, with a much larger window than the industry norm. This is possible thanks to Mido's exclusive movement, based on its Caliber 80. It has a power reserve of up to 80 hours.

The models in this anniversary collection inherit the aesthetic codes of the "Commander" line, made by Mido since 1959, with a satin-finish sunray dial -- available in anthracite or silver depending on the model -- a 42mm round case in satin-finish stainless steel and a polished bezel.

The watch indexes, along with the diamond-cut hour and minutes hands, have a white Super-LumiNova coating for optimal readability in the dark.

The anthracite dial model is available with a stainless steel strap. A two-tone version features touches of rose PVD on the bezel, crown and strap. This anniversary watch is priced from €960.
