The Milan-based fashion house's board of directors gave the green light for the listing, it said in a statement.
It designated Intesa Sanpaolo, Unicredit and Goldman Sachs as coordinators of the initial public offering, while Milan's business bank Mediobanca was named as an advisory bank.
The proposed listing will depend on "market conditions," the statement said.
Efforts to go public in 2000 and 2001 were scrapped because of market considerations.
