Vilebrequin looks forward to delighting Karl Lagerfeld aficionados this summer. The beachwear brand founded in Saint-Tropez in 1971 and now owned by US group G-III Apparel has in fact tapped the Karl Lagerfeld label to co-design a limited-edition capsule collection, to be launched in May.

The collection features beachwear items for men and women, and consists of eight limited-edition models including swimming shorts, a polo, a tunic dress, a bikini, a beach towel and a clutch bag.

Vilebrequin originally targeted only men, but has now morphed into a fully fledged beach/lifestyle label, having broadened its range and notably launched a women's line in 2013.

The new capsule collection has an unmistakable seaside flavour, with an abundance of stripes and a palette of primary, graphic colours dominated by electric blue, black and white. The Karl Lagerfeld icon signs off all the models. The collection will be available from May at prices between €60 and €210, both at the brick-and-mortar and online stores of Karl Lagerfeld and Vilebrequin.

The Karl Lagerfeld label has introduced a spate of similar collaborations, both long-term and one-shot, such as this with Vilebrequin. The mixed gender label, relaunched by the Apax Partners investment fund in 2011 and positioned in the accessible luxury segment, has recently heralded a series of new ventures in footwear and jewellery.
