The German portal announced this week the launch of Zalando Build, a platform which will combine the functionalities and solutions developed by start-ups to improve customer experience. The platform already includes enhanced options in terms of size choices, cuts and styles.

For its launch, the platform integrated tools into the Zalando Fashion Store from Israeli company Bllush. The tool embeds images from social media influencers into its product pages and suggests similar products to those presented on the photographs.

"Our aim is to connect all the actors of the fashion industry,” said Marc Lamik, head of partnerships at Zalando. “Our Zalando Build partners will get the opportunity to integrate their content or experiences in the Zalando fashion store and reach millions of consumers across Europe. Start-ups can leverage our size and market reach, while co-operating with start-ups gives us the possibility to implement new products and services much faster and try out new things.”

In its 2016 financial year, Zalando saw sales increase by 23 percent to 3.6 billion euros, with increases of 14.8 percent in its Germany, Austria and Switzerland zone and 29.6 percent in the rest of Europe.

The group's net income remained stable at 120.5 million euros, compared to 121.5 million euros in the previous year.
