Festival of Hyères 2014: Grand Prize for Photography: Lorenzo Vitturi

From 25th to 28th April, the Villa Noailles hosted the 29th lnternational Photography Festival of Hyères, creative hotbed of young photography talent, chaired this year by British fashion photographer, Steve Hiett. And the jury’s Grand Prize was awarded to Italian Lorenzo Vitturi, for his project entitled “Dalston Anatomy”, which focused on the oldest market in London, also a meeting point for different communities … and his perseverance paid off…Interviews:Steve Hiett:I think they are all surprising and if I chose one above the others, it wouldn’t be fair to the others so I wouldn’t say one was better than the other, they are all different. They are all very different and they are all very personal, they’re being themselves which is the most important thing. Even if you don’t like it, if they are really being themselves then that’s fine. I like that when something happens that you didn’t plan, that’s always ends up being the good picture, for me at least.Lorenzo Vitturi:It is not the first time that I have tried to be part of the selection of the festival. I think it is the third of fourth time and finally I am here and I also won. I spent a lot of time and energy making this work, it took me two years and I think that is the best way to finish a product.Music free of right: Nikit & Bandit - 2012
