080 Barcelona Fashion to feature 22 designers at next digital edition
On April 26-29, Barcelona will once again host its customary 080 Barcelona Fashion event. Now in its 27th edition, Barcelona Fashion Week will be staged for the second time in digital format only, to comply with the restrictions imposed to fight the pandemic. The event will include a presentation recorded at the iconic Antoni Gaudí-designed Casa Milà, known as La Pedrera, and all the collections be presented in live streaming mode.
A decision that the organisers, the Consorcio de Comercio Artesanía y Moda of the Catalonian governmental authority has deemed necessary both “because of the exceptional circumstances occasioned by the pandemic” and for its “desire to adapt to the fashion industry’s digitalisation.”
This year’s 080 Barcelona Fashion will feature regulars like designer Txell Miras, winner of the best collection prize at the event’s 2016 edition; designer Pablo Erroz, finalist at Vogue Spain’s Who’s On Next prize in 2018; Catalan designer Menchen Tomàs; the Lola Casademunt label’s premium line, Maite by Lola Casademunt; Lebor Gabala, a project by designer Maite Muñoz; knitwear label Escorpion; minimalist label Eñaut, from the Basque country; menswear label Avellaneda; and local label Custo Barcelona.
Among the new entries, the maiden presentation by Is Coming, the label by Costan Hernández, who previously launched Hoss Intropia, now owned by Spanish retail group Tendam. Barcelona-based label Paloma Wool, founded in 2014, will also make its catwalk debut with the creations of designer Paloma Lanna. Victor Von Schwarz, a cult designer for Spanish pop stars like Rosalía, Aitana and Bad Gyal, will showcase his new creations too, after featuring at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid 2021, scheduled on April 8-11.
Also on the calendar, Y_Como, designed by Yolanda Pérez; timeless brand The Label Edition; swimwear brand Paraiso; the commercial debut of designer Paola Molet; Otrura; Onrushw23fh; slow fashion by LR3; womenswear by Eiko Ai; the genderless patterns created by Antonio Marcial, and the design work of Álvaro Calafat.
