An office move may not seem like the most exciting announcement on a busy news day, but the British Fashion Council’s move to London’s Soho from its Somerset House home is interesting.

The BFC said Monday that it’s moving to premium flexible workspace provider Fora at 33 Broadwick Street. This new central location is in the heart of Soho, close to Carnaby and the wider West End and “places the organisation at the epicentre of the diverse and innovative capital with close proximity to many of London’s creative spaces and major retail hubs”.

Importantly too, Fora will also join the BFC as a Patron, “playing a key role in supporting the organisation in the years ahead”.

The body said that its move reflects the changes in working environments that have taken place over the last year and marks its recognition that flexible working and remote working are the way forward.

“The new office space allows the team this flexibility and hosts state of the art technology and event spaces, having been designed with productivity and wellness at its core,” it said. It’s also big on sustainability.

The BFC has been based at Somerset House since 2009. As one of the first office tenants to move in when the building was converted, it played a key role in establishing the location as an international creative hub and the historic building hosted numerous London Fashion Week shows.

There’s no date so far for when the BFC team will move into its new home as the current lockdown means staff continue to work from home.
