The Dubai-based Chalhoub group, specialised in retail trade, distribution and communications, has announced its entry on the Moroccan market, with the opening of two Wojooh beauty stores. The project was set up in collaboration with Omar Kabbaj and sons, a local family active in the hotel and corporate real estate industries, and owner of leading beauty products distributor OLKA.

After 18 years in the industry, Wojooh is the top distributor of beauty products in the Middle East, operating over 75 stores in 10 countries. The first Moroccan Wojooh store by the Chalhoub group was opened in Casablanca's prestigious Sijelmassi district, and the other in Massira, one of the city's most commercial thoroughfares. Both shops extend over approximately 200 m².

"We are satisfied with our entry on the Moroccan market. Though the luxury goods market in the Gulf area is going through a phase of maturity, we remain confident, relying notably on the resources of new markets such as Morocco. (...) Our intention is to further expand the group's presence in Morocco with other store openings in major cities, such as Rabat, Marrakesh and Tangier," stated Patrick Chalhoub, joint CEO of the Chalhoub group.

The group's staff currently numbers more than 12,000 employees across 14 countries, with a network of over 650 stores. As proof of its commitment to sustainability, in 2015 the group was awarded for the third consecutive year the CSR label by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, and was admitted in 2014 among the the members of the UN's Global Compact for sustainability.
