Corinne Gensollen, the new president of Intersport International Corporation, was elected to the board of directors along with Volfango Bondi on 9 September at the annual general meeting in Helsinki.

Gensollen, from France, and Bondi, from Italy, were appointed as new members of the IIC Board for a three-year term. Intersport International delegates also re-elected Canada’s Rick White as an independent member of the IIC comitee of directors.

Following the meeting, the board met and appointed Gensollen as its new chair. This is the first time that a woman has chaired the IIC board.

Gensollen said: "In today's challenging business environment, Intersport needs a strong management team to fully exploit the Group's omnichannel and sustainability strategy. We need to make the right decisions so that each market under the Intersport brand can grow successfully."

The other members of the board are Alexander von Preen, from Germany, and Sami Kiiski from Finland. Von Preen's appointment as vice-chairman means that he will work closely with Gensollen, enabling Intersport's two largest representatives, for France and Germany, to strengthen their cooperation for the benefit of the group.

"We will make the group even more customer-oriented and increase its verticality and efficiency. Intersport must continue to be the sports retail brand that is closest to the consumer and the industry. I am looking forward to this position and to working closely with the IIC Board of Directors, the CEOs of all countries and the executive board," said Gensollen.

Steve Evers, CEO of IIC, is delighted to be working closely with Gensollen and the new board of directors to implement a new strategy to accelerate the group's omnichannel and sustainable transformation, the company said.
