Crocs, Inc. announced the opening of its new global headquarters in Broomfield, Colorado, on Wednesday, a move that will allow the casual footwear company, famous for its plastic-foam clogs, to employ more full-time staff in a modernized environment “meant to put employees' needs front and center.”

Formerly based in Niwot, Colorado, Crocs’ HQ will now be housed in a 90,000-square-foot facility on the Atria office campus, under 20 miles away from Denver.

In addition to the 375 positions already maintained at the company’s corporate headquarters, Crocs will be looking to make new full-time hires for the Broomfield facility, but has not provided specific figures concerning the number of new posts that will be created.  According to Ryan Good, EVP and partner at Etkin Johnson Real Estate Partners, owner and developer of Atria, the campus is “strategically located to access multiple talent pools.”

Crocs’ new global HQ offers employees a wide range of adaptable collaboration spaces, from video technology-equipped conference rooms to huddle spaces and one-on-one meeting rooms. Other features include living green walls, skylights and roll-up doors for maximizing the presence of natural light in the environment, a full-service café, and wayfinding technology designed to help staff navigate the space.

“Niwot was our home for more than 16 years, and the facility and the Niwot community played a big part in helping our company grow,” said Crocs SVP and chief people officer, Shannon Sisler, in a release. “With an increasingly competitive workforce, and a need to give our employees a 'home for work' feeling, our new workspace in the Atria campus in neighboring Broomfield will allow us to continue attracting and retaining the best talent in the industry.”

Crocs also intends to make a positive impact on its new HQ’s local community and has started by making donations to the Broomfield Chamber of Commerce and the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce for their "Prosper Colorado" initiative, as part of an effort to support small businesses in the region.

According to the company, it will be looking for new ways to get involved in the Broomfield community in the future.

The announcement of the opening of Crocs’ new global HQ, which was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic, comes on the heels of news that the footwear company has broken ground on its largest European distribution center in Dordrecht, the Netherlands.

The coronavirus crisis also took its toll on the company’s first-quarter financial results, contributing to a decline of 5.0% in quarterly revenues, which totaled $281.2 million. Crocs’ net income for Q1 was $11.1 million, or $0.16 per diluted share.
