The Danish fashion brand has expanded its offering this February with the introduction of a completely new category to complement its fashion, footwear and accessories range. Named "Ganni Sport", the sports line further ups the brand's commitment to the athleisure segment, after having already ventured into activewear with its "Ganni Klub" collection in 2021 and a sports capsule with Ssense.

The sports line launched this February - Ganni

Available since this February through the brand's website and its physical points of sale, Ganni Sport offers 30 "responsible, high-performance sport styles for intensive training", all made from recycled nylon and polyester. Designed to "cover every aspect of an everyday life on the move," the line offers both basic activewear items such as leggings, shorts, tops and T-shirts, as well as trendier looks ranging from retro-inspired technical tracksuits to cropped dresses and sweatshirts featuring mesh logos.

Positioned in an accessible premium segment, with prices ranging from 110 to 145 euros, many of the collection's pieces have a unique microfibre construction that supports the body's natural cooling system with pleat-free styles that have a seamless fit and feeling.

The collection's colour palette mixes neutral black, grey and white with bright pops of colour such as bright green and yellow in different variations of colour blocking and holographic prints. The brand's signature leopard print also makes its way onto tops and leggings, while the Ganni logo is stamped on the garments in the purest sportswear brand style.

"We have worked super hard to find the right responsible, high performing materials and get the expression just right. Our lifestyle in Copenhagen is pretty active, whether that means cycling across town, going to the gym, doing yoga or taking long walks. I really wanted to create something that fits the many different ways we incorporate movement into our lives and make it feel super fun and versatile," said the Danish brand's creative director, Ditte Reffstrup.

A self-confessed football fan, the designer recently interviewed by FashionNetwork.com was proud to have created a universal collection "that speaks to anyone's passion".

From sportswear to innovative materials

This is not the brand's only recent launch. In its latest fashion show, which was inspired by the metamorphosis of butterflies and was held a couple weeks ago at Copenhagen Fashion Week, the brand introduced a new vegan bag made from an innovative material composed of 48% oranges and cacti and 52% recycled plastics, developed by the Italian start-up Ohoskin.

Relaunched in 2009 by Nicolaj and Ditte Reffstrup, Ganni is a Danish-based brand that operates through an international retail network of over 40 company-owned shops, more than 600 points of sale and employs more than 400 people based in its offices in Copenhagen, London, New York, Paris and Shanghai. The brand has been owned by LVMH's private equity arm L Catterton since 2017.

Currently, its e-commerce is already available in 35 countries, including Australia, Canada and South Korea. In the 2021 financial year, the company recorded a turnover of 120 million euros.
