Desigual: first concept store for men in Barcelona

Published
Apr 2, 2015

Desigual’s male fans have been invited to visit the brand’s very first store dedicated exclusively to men. Located at 3 calle Cucurulla in Barcelona, the temporary flagship will serve as a test case for potential future locations.

"What does being a scoundrel mean for you?" asks this Desigual ad

It’s an experiment similar to the one already carried out in March 2013 in Paris, with a temporary store dedicated to footwear opened on Faubourg Saint-Antoine (12th arrondissement). In April 2014, the brand also opened a "garage outlet" in Barcelona offering pieces from past seasons.

The menswear experiment should allow the brand to explore opportunities for growth in the segment, which is already seeing progress. Over the first nine months of 2014, menswear made up 9% of sales, according to Spanish news site Modaes. The retailer is also marketing footwear, sports, home and fragrance lines launched over the last two years.

For its 2014 fiscal year, Desigual generated a turnover of 963.5 million euros, up 16.2%. 20% of its sales were generated in its native Spain. Present in 109 countries through a network of 526 stores, the brand is also distributed via 8,000 multibrands and 2,800 corners.
