After having invited brands such as Marchesa or Viktor & Rolf to the Catalan capital in previous editions, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week has now chosen Elie Saab to be the guest of honour of its upcoming edition. The Lebanese designer will present his first bridal fashion show in Barcelona on Wednesday, April 19. As guest of honour of the event, the show will be held as part of Barcelona Bridal Night at the Museu Marítim de Barcelona.

Inviting world-renowned brands has been part of BBFW's strategy for years to promote both its name and its participating brands worldwide. In addition to the media hype, the professional trade show and bridal catwalk event in Barcelona aims to establish itself as the leading global meeting point in bridal fashion.

Its next edition, which will be held at its usual location, the Montjuïc venue, will feature 34 designer fashion shows between April 19 and 22. The event will also see 350 firms (76% from abroad, from 34 different countries) present their collections at the professional trade fair that will run from April 21 to 23.

"Showing in Barcelona for the first time is a very momentous occasion for Elie Saab. Debuting Bridal during Bridal Fashion Week in an exclusive runway show is a true pleasure. We are thrilled to celebrate bridal while continuing to broaden the expressions of the Elie Saab woman," said the firm's CEO, Elie Saab Junior.

For her part, Albasari Caro is proud to be organising the show, in what will be her first edition as director of the event. "It is an honour that Elie Saab has chosen our event and our city to present his bridal fashion collection to the world," said the organiser, insisting that the couturier is "one of haute couture's greatest masters, capable of captivating the most refined women on the planet with his exquisite style and filling the red carpets with glamour."

In fact, the luxury brand founded in 1982 has dressed royalty such as Rania of Jordan and Kate Middleton, as well as celebrities such as Beyoncé, Cara Delevingne and Halle Berry, who received the Oscar for best actress wearing a dress from the brand in 2002.

With ateliers in Paris, Beirut and London, the couture brand is a regular on the Paris Fashion Week and haute couture calendars. Known for its embroidery and artisanal savoir faire, Elie Saab has expanded its offering over the years to include accessories, eyewear, fragrances and it has even launched a home line.
