The Fashion Institute of Technology's FIT/Infor DTech Lab announced on Monday that it has entered into a partnership with OnPoint Manufacturing, the first step towards the institution launching its own branded apparel and accessories lines designed, marketed and retailed by students.

Further details about the partnership will be announced later this month - Instagram: @fitnyc

The New York fashion college intends to leverage OnPoint’s technological capacities in fit personalization and its innovative supply chain strategies to produce a “wearable avant-garde” offering, including two womenswear collections – one aimed at the luxury market, the other at mid-market consumers.

The partnership will allow students in FIT’s Fashion Design, Technical Design, Fashion Business Management, Textile Development and Marketing, Advertising and Marketing Communications, and Communication Design programs to engage with new sustainable technologies to conceptualize, develop and sell designs.

OnPoint’s Unique.Fashion platform will serve as a marketplace for participating students.

“This new paradigm will provide students, brands, and designers a revolutionary fashion value chain, in an innovative learning environment," commented Michael Ferraro, executive director of FIT/Infor Design and Technology Lab, in a release. "This partnership will engage faculty and students as they research the impact of emerging technology for on-demand, personalized fashion and apparel products."

Further details concerning the partnership are set to be announced at an event on March 28 at the FIT IT/Infor DTech Lab.
