Fred Perry is continuing to roll out new physical shops and has now opened a new flagship store in New York City. The new location is on Broome Street in Lower Manhattan.

And it's another result of the long-standing collaboration between the British sports-to-casual label and architecture firm BuckleyGrayYeoman, which designed the 700 square foot space.

The new store has a modern feel that also makes the most of the historic building in which it’s located, the space for the past 35 years having been an antiques shop.

The architects have added the new while exposing many original features and have used contrasting materials for the interior with a nod towards sustainability. That means cabinets made of reclaimed wood, with other reclaimed timber both blending and contrasting with matt black steel. The exposed brickwork also contrasts with a backlit polycarbonate wall that puts the brand’s famous laurel wreath logo to the fore.

BuckleyGrayYeoman’s Amr Assaad, said the brand is “part of the UK’s international sporting and cultural heritage” and the company’s long association with it has allowed it to really get to know what Fred Perry wants and needs.

“The result is a space of confidence and character which highlights the brand’s culture and style and thoughtfully retains and reflects the history of the building.”

Between them, the two companies have now created Fred Perry stores in Stockholm, Seoul, Munich and Bangkok, and the retailer’s own head offices in London’s Mount Pleasant in 2017.
