As the party season gets well under way, Georges Hobeika has opened a pop-up inside Harrods in London’s Knightsbridge.

The luxury department store has announced a raft of pop-ups this season with the Dior takeover being the highest-profile among them. But despite Dior dominating the store’s windows and ground floor, there’s plenty of space in the giant building for other brands to make an impact and Georges Hobeika is certainly doing that on the first floor.

Importantly, the festive pop-up also comes ahead of the label opening a new permanent concession there in January.

The Lebanese fashion house’s pop-up focuses on its AW22 Martian Breeze collection and includes eight exclusive dresses alongside the collection’s colourful embellished dresses and “youthful silhouettes echoing the liberating, retrofuturist styles of the 60s”.

The pop-up runs until the end of the month and should be a good introduction to the brand for Harrods shoppers in time for the permanent space opening in January. It will be in the eveningwear section of the first floor, alongside popular luxury brands such as Alaïa, Givenchy and Zimmermann.

The Harrods development comes after a busy period for Georges Hobeika. It has opened a new showroom in the heart of Paris (on Rue Francois 1er), as well as naming Jad Hobeika as co-creative director, which it said marks “a fresh new chapter for the luxury brand”.

He’s overseeing a reinvention of the heritage of the label, but with “a new modern approach with a bigger focus on the ready-to-wear collections”.
