Gucci launches Instagram account dedicated to its sustainability initiatives
Gucci has once again trumpeted its commitment to sustainability. The Kering luxury group’s leading label has published its annual environmental statement, and at the same time boosted the way it communicates about its sustainability initiatives by introducing gucciequilibrium, a dedicated Instagram account.
The account, currently with 1,389 followers and nine posts, is designed to enable Gucci to forge closer links with its community, by sharing all the initiatives the label is deploying to safeguard the planet and the people who live on it, as Gucci underlined in a press release.
Gucci started taking an interest in its environmental impact in 2011, and has been publishing an Environmental Profit & Loss statement since 2015. In 2019, it began to advertise its results and methods on the equilibrium.gucci.com site. The website is now introducing a new look, with a fresh logo and visual style devised by Italian illustrator and street artist MP5.
Gucci set itself the goal of reducing its environmental impact by 40% and its carbon footprint by 50% in the decade between 2015 and 2025. Between 2015 and 2019, the label achieved reductions of respectively 39% and 37% in these two areas. In 2019, Gucci’s greenhouse gas emissions fell by 18% compared to 2018, and its global impact fell by 21% in the same period.
