Gucci is continuing its round-the-world tour of heritage sites with its latest choice of location. Luxury group Kering's flagship label is set to unveil its 2019 cruise collection in Arles on May 30 2018, it has announced. The show will take place at the heritage site of Alyscamps, a Roman necropolis.

It will be the first time that an event of this scale has been organised on the site, the label said in a press release co-written with the town. Last year, Gucci tried to show amongst the temples of Athens' Acropolis, but the plan was rejected by Greek authorities and the label finally opted for the Florentine Palazzo Pitti.

After the DIA Art Foundation in New York; London's Westminster Abbey and the Pitti palace in Florence, Gucci creative director Alessando Michele will finally see his dream of showing on an ancient site come true. As the brand reminds us, the location is "a registered UNESCO world heritage site and has inspired a great number of artists and writers for centuries." Not least of whom, the Italian designer.
