Retail property giant Hammerson has created a new senior role with Grégoire Peureux joining it as Chief Operating Officer. He will also join the Group Executive Committee and will “focus on the delivery of strategic initiatives at a group level”.

Peureux has over 17 years of experience in the real estate industry and joins from Rove Capital Partners, a boutique real estate investment advisor, where he was a founding partner.

He had previously worked at Ivanhoe Cambridge for over 13 years, where current Hammerson CEO Rita-Rose Gagné had also worked. While there, he was initially CFO for Europe, and then Head of Europe, “responsible for the investment, asset management, operations and finance activities for a diversified €5bn portfolio across the UK and Continental Europe”.

He’s fluent in both French and English, which is important for the company given that its assets are almost as significant in France as they are in its domestic market, the UK.

Hammerson owns a huge number of properties in Britain, such as the Bullring, Brent Cross, Cabot Circus, Silverburn, Victoria Gate and Westquay. It also has Dublin’s Dundrum Town centre in its portfolio along with some key French malls.

They include Les Terraces du Port in Marseille, Nicetoile in Nice, and Italie Deux in Paris, among others.

Rita-Rose Gagné said: “Grégoire’s extensive experience and new perspective will ensure we become more agile and are in the best possible position to respond to this period of extraordinary change and disruption.”
