Happy Ducks, a new brand of children's swimwear

A new player has just arrived on the swimwear market. Constance D’Amécourt launched Happy Ducks on the web with the brand's first e-store at www.happyduckswimwear.myshopify.com. The designer worked for five years at Louis Vuitton as project coordinator in the arts and culture department.

Happy Ducks is initially targeted to children age 0-12, and aims to fill a niche the other brands on the market have left virtually empty. "Though some brands have taken an interest in children's swimwear - among them Vilebrequin with its dad-kids swimwear concept - currently none is wholly dedicated to the segment", the designer has explained.

Happy Ducks follows traditional children's swimwear shapes and offers a range featuring graphic prints and materials suitable for swimming, "swimwear that dries like polyester, with an anti-UV treatment that meets parents' expectations."

Constance D’Amécourt's swimwear is produced in Tunisia, a country that's become market specialist. Each season the collection will showcase a series of prints designed by children illustrator Sophie Rouliot www.scommegilberte.fr). The first collection features a series of animals in 10 models for girls and boys, with a mixed motif, the duck.

The  brand is unique in selling high-end products at medium-range prices (between €32 and €45). Happy Ducks was set up through independent funding and relies for its expansion on retail sales in department and multi-brand stores, both in Paris and London, where the designer lives.

Next season Constance D’Amécourt plans to expand the collection with new prints, develop an anti-UV tee-shirt and launch an adult line targeted to fathers.
