Global events business Hyve Group has said its non-executive director Anna Bateson has tendered her resignation from the board, effective 16 September. Her impending departure follows her appointment as the CEO of the Guardian Media Group.

Bateson joined the board expactly six months ago as chair of Hyve's ESG Committee and a member of the Remuneration and Audit Committees. Jo Rabbett, the group's Chief of Staff, will act as an interim Chair of the ESG Committee.

Richard Last, Chairman of Hyve Group said: "On behalf of the board, I would like to extend my gratitude to Anna for her contribution to Hyve. While we are disappointed not to have benefited from her valuable experience and insights for longer, we are extremely supportive of her new appointment and look forward to witnessing her success at GMG."

The process is now under way to appoint a new non-exec and a further announcement will be made in due course, it said.

Hyve Group, which organises Pure London, Scoop and Moda, alongside many other international trade shows, has rebounded well from the devastating effects the pandemic had on live events. Last month, the company said that the pace of in-person event recovery is “considerably ahead of anticipated levels”.

The update covered the period from 1 April to 24 June — the company’s Q3 — and it said that after the first half of the year showed a faster than expected recovery, the momentum has continued into the third quarter.
