Isabella Rossellini has landed a new role as the latest muse for the beauty house Lancôme.

The Italian actress, director and style icon is teaming up with the French cosmetics brand on a mission to "spread the brand's particular vision of femininity to the four corners of the earth."

The news marks the second act for the pair, following Rossellini's 14 year stint as a "Lancôme woman" which began when she first became the face of the house in 1983.

"I am well aware that this decision goes well beyond me, says the star: it's a strong indication of Lancôme's inclusiveness and celebration of all women."

The position will see the 63-year-old act as a spokesmodel for the house on a regular basis, sharing the secrets of her happiness and her beauty tricks and tips.

"Isabella embodies the idea of an accomplished beauty that is synonymous with well-being, explains Françoise Lehmann, General Manager of Lancôme. "She also maintains a very positive, serene attitude to age, which she experiences as liberating and self-affirming."

The daughter of Italian director Roberto Rossellini and the Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman, Rossellini has continually reinvented herself throughout her acting career. Her cult roles and projects have seen her work with major directors such as David Lynch, Joel Schumacher and Guy Maddin, and she recently appeared in "Enemy" by Denis Villeneuve and "Joy" by David O. Russell.

Rossellini is the latest in a long line up of accomplished women to have joined forces with the beauty brand recently, following the news that fashion designer Julie de Libran, Artistic Director of Sonia Rykiel, is set to create a limited edition autumn range for the house, launching in August this year.
