The third edition of the Isko I-Skool project asked fashion students from around the world to create their own denim-based projects. The Turkish group, together with its partners, established two award categories in 2016, one for design, the other for marketing.

The finalists' work was presented at Villa Corner della Regina, in Treviso, Italy. - Isko

The competition's jury evaluated creations by students from about fifteen fashion academies in Germany, Italy, China, Japan and Australia. The prizes were awarded during an event held on 15th July, at a historic Treviso palace.

On the design side, the jury presided by François Girbaud looked for the best possible use of Isko materials, a chance for the group to make the students aware of denim manufacturing processes. "Far from the cameras, close to the industry: this has been the spirit of Isko I-Skool since its first edition, explained Marco Lucietti, Global Marketing Director of Isko, a subsidiary of the Sanko group. Education lies at the heart of our project. The objective is to help these young talents to grow, allowing them to experience the importance not just of creativity, but of culture and industrial processes too."

The students let their creativity loose on three product types. The jury rewarded the work of Anna Biotti, from Venice's IUAV academy, who proposed a new take on iconic designs. Also appreciated was the athleisure approach of Joona Rautiainen, from Finnish school Aalto. The third recipient of the Design award was Ester Rigato, also from the Venice academy, who used Isko Jool, the label's fabric blending wool and denim.

The jury for the marketing awards was chaired by Chantal Malingrey, director of Denim Première Vision. The prizes went to the strategic and tactical plans devised by Francesco Diomedi, of the Milan Fashion Institute for the ‘Jool Mood’ theme, and by Travis Rice of Dutch academy AMFI, for the ‘Athleisure Mood’ theme.
