Kemmet will be based in London and will also become senior vice president, business operations at the luxury footwear company, The Evening Standard reported.

He was most recently chief operating officer and chief financial officer at Ralph Lauren EMEA, and sits on the Richemont & Ralph Lauren Joint Venture Watches & Jewellery board.

He also spent over 10 years at Nike, rising from finance director for the UK & Ireland to chief financial officer for Nike in Europe.

The appointment follows the acquisition of Jimmy Choo by US fashion brand Michael Kors for £896 million ($1.2 billion) in November last year. The British brand is popular for its colourful strappy stilettoes and counts Beyoncé, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Middleton among its fans.

Michael Kors plans to expand Jimmy Choo’s global presence by opening more stores in the year to March 2019. It currently operates 243 stores in cities including London, New York, Toronto, Barcelona and Singapore.

Simon Kemmett will replace Jonathan Sinclair, who left the brand earlier this year to join Canada Goose as chief financial officer.
