Jordan 1 Mid sneakers are seeing “huge growth” in demand on resale market platform StockX with women proving to be big fans of the style, it said in a new report on Thursday.

In the last 12 to 18 months “appreciation has more than doubled for the classic sneaker”, with the company attributing the rising female interest to the recent success of female skaters at the Olympic Games and the exposure seen on TikTok, YouTube and Instagram

And it’s interesting that much of the growth at present is being driven by markets outside of Europe.

StockX said in its Big Facts report that last year, Europe was the number one buyer of Jordan 1 Mids per capita, buying three times the global average. But now, the rest of the world is catching up. Growth of women's exclusives in general has been particularly strong in Australia in the past quarter and Jordan 1 Mids interest has risen nearly 100% in non-EU markets.

Jesse Einhorn, a trend specialist at StockX said: “With Michael Jordan’s earliest worn pair of sneakers expected to break all auction records, these figures go to show that, when it comes to the most coveted collabs and silhouettes, the value of Jordans is rising across the board. Not only does the Jordan 1 continue to be the most popular silhouette on StockX, but when you combine Jordan’s cultural history with the perfect mix between technical innovation, beautiful design and cultural distinction, it’s an undeniable leader.”

And Einhorn added that  “it’s encouraging to see brands prioritising female sneakerheads” with the introduction of unisex sizing plus exclusive women-only colourways and collaborations.
