Lacoste has opened up its world to Jean-Paul Goude for winter 2016. The French artist is famous for his work with singer Grace Jones, and for his advertising campaigns for the Galeries Lafayette department stores. He has now dreamed up a new take on The Crocodile. For the French label's fetish animal, Jean-Paul Goude has created an absolutely offbeat design.

Lacoste reinterpreted by Jean-Paul Goude - Lacoste

He approached the project together with Lacoste's Creative Director Felipe Oliveira Baptista. "Felipe showed up one day, and it was a grace-filled moment, the artist has confided in a press release. We were happy to meet, it was all so easy, as though he'd told me: 'We're going to play tennis this afternoon. Fancy coming with us?'"

Product-wise, the two creatives have reinterpreted the Lacoste essential, the polo, designing the 'Holiday Collection' which includes long and short-sleeved polo shirts in white, navy, heather grey, green and red. There is also a short-sleeved polo for kids, in heather grey and navy.

The collection will be available at the Lacoste stores in November, and will also include two black bags: a tote bag and a clutch bag from the Chantaco line. Finally, a jersey cotton bomber jacket will be available in a limited edition, in navy or red.

On every item, the logo devised by Jean-Paul Goude has pride of place.
