Marc Jacobs has released a revamped version of 26 designs from his 1993 collection for Perry Ellis, which made headlines for its grunge-inspired designs.

Featuring Nirvana-inspired t-shirts, fruit-printed dresses and tops, as well as coats, pants, and matching sets in neons, pastels, stripes and plaid galore, the capsule presents an updated version of grunge, a trend that seems to have come back around, as Instagram influencers and musicians revisit the aesthetic.

25 years after the collection debuted in November of 1992, the Redux Grunge collection's lookbook features top models like Gigi Hadid and Slick Woods, as well as daughters of models who walked for the original collection, like Coco Gordon Moore and Lily McMenamy.

Jacobs designed the 1993 collection during his time as creative director for Perry Ellis, inspired by "the alternative music scene, the new wave of fashion photography, and the personal style of his friends" of the time, according to the capsule's launch page. The collection caused immediate controversy in comparison to the sleek, glamorous designs of the 90s, eventually costing Jacobs his job.

However, the scandal would bring Jacobs as many fans as it would enemies, and the designer would go on to found his own eponymous label notorious for having its finger on the pulse of American culture. Marc Jacobs would eventually become one of the most highly anticipated mainstays of New York Fashion Week

Of the polarizing line, Jacobs said "it was the first time I was unwavering in my determination to see my vision come to life on the runway without creative compromise." Now, as some worry that the designer has started to slip from his throne of relevancy – the fashion world briefly lit up with gossip after Marc Jacobs lost its traditional time slot at NYFW to Rihanna's Savage x Fenty – the designer has come back to the root of his original work.

"The world needs grunge more than ever...authenticity, acceptance, freedom," the brand said on the Redux Grunge launch page.

The looks from Redux Grunge are available for pre-order now on the Marc Jacobs e-commerce site.

Pieces from the collection range from $95 to $1,200.
