Misfit to launch ‘Phase’ smartwatch

Misfit on Tuesday announced its expansion to smartwatches with the launch of the Misfit Phase Hybrid Smartwatch.

The Misfit Phase launches online on November 7

The Misfit Phase, which launches on November 7, tracks steps, distance and sleep duration and quality. The smartwatch also works as a remote control that can control music, take pictures with your phone or advance slides on a presentation. The Phase’s watch face displays watch hands and notifications and is complimented by a stainless steel body with a satin aluminum shroud.

“We’re thrilled to launch Misfit Phase, which employs Misfit’s energy efficient, miniaturized Bluetooth enabled technology in a traditional watch form factor,” said Preston Moxcey, General Manager of Misfit. “Watches are the fashion-credible predecessor of wearable technology, and Misfit Phase showcases both the evolution of the wearable technology space and its convergence with the world of fashion accessories.”

Misfit joins the likes of Fitbit, Apple, Fossil, Google, Samsung and Movado in the smartwatch market. Relaxnews reported in September that the wearable tech market has slowed down compared to 2015, but that has not stopped Fossil, Movado, Michael Kors and Misfit from launching new styles.

The launch of the Misfit Phase follows the company’s expansion to Europe. The company rolled out its Misfit Ray wearable and other products into the region after it was acquired by Fossil in 2015 for $260 million. Misfit also plans to expand into the Middle East.

The Misfit Phase will launch on the Misfit website on November 7 and will retail for $175.
