Mulberry is continuing its efforts to turn itself around. Following the recent appointment of Johnny Coca as its new creative director, the British leatherwear brand is enlisting the services of a well-known figure in the fashion world: Julie Gilhart, who is joining its board of directors as an “independent non-executive director”, the house said in a statement.

American Julie Gilhart possesses a wealth of fashion and retail experience. A freelance fashion consultant, she worked for New York department store chain Barneys for almost 18 years, occupying such positions as that of fashion director. Among her clients: Amazon.com, LVMH and Tory Burch

"I would like to welcome Julie to the board and look forward to her bringing her considerable fashion and brand experience to bear as we continue to build Mulberry into a global luxury brand," said executive chairman Godfrey Davis.
