With the lease on its current UK headquarters set to expire in 2020, US sportswear giant Nike, Inc. has reportedly signed a long-term lease for over 60,000 square feet in S1, a new 11-storey building in the rapidly regenerating North London district of King’s Cross.

The company’s new headquarters in the British capital will therefore be almost twice the size of its current digs on Soho’s Wardour Street, which measure 35,000 square feet and are a stone’s throw away from the Nike Town flagship store on Oxford Street.

Nike will be in good company when it moves to King’s Cross, joining the likes of Google, Facebook, Universal Music and LMVH in the formerly run-down area, which has been transformed over the last few years thanks to major redevelopment projects.

Its new home, S1, has been designed by Westminster-based French architect Michel Mossessian and is currently in construction. According to British newspaper The Evening Standard, it will feature a roof terrace, as well as cladding in Armenian black volcanic lava stone.

Nike will move into its new headquarters next year, once building work has been completed.
