Nodaleto enters the bridalwear sector with its first bridal shoe collection
More than a few brides have certainly fallen for Nodaleto’s signature nineties-inspired platforms, including Anne Michelson. Her bridal look last year featured a pair of white sandals with jeweled details designed especially for her special day by one of her best friends: founder and designer behind the cult French footwear brand, Julia Toledano. This friendly gesture was the first step in inspiring the idea of Nodaleto shoes designed specifically for brides, which has now come into fruition in the form of a complete capsule collection already available to pre-order on the brand’s website.
"Since its inception, Nodaleto has told the itinerant story of a young girl becoming an adult, with her shoes as witnesses to her evolution. It's a very naive approach, in a good way," explains the CEO of the label, which she co-founded together with creative director, Olivier Leone, in 2019. The premium “made in Italy” footwear brand, is characterized by its minimalist yet glamorously retro designs that explore femininity, from "baby doll" inspired platform shoes to empowering boots.
This first venture into the bridal sector arose from a desire to accompany her loyal followers in all memorable stages of their lives. "Marriage is such an important moment in life that it seemed natural to include it in our story," said Toledano, explaining that the year 2022 has been marked by many of her friends’ engagements and by the wedding that she herself will celebrate in the coming months. “After these two weird years of Covid that pushed back so many events, it’s time to celebrate. And after seeing so many women wearing bulla babies (the brand's iconic model) in white patent leather or in spanish nude on their wedding day, I thought it was the right time," she continued, assuring that her aim is to “offer an alternative” to the “often very classic” bridal collections.
From sky blue to cream tones, and even a sparkling embellished pair, the collection’s platforms feature Nodaleto’s signature wide, comfortable heels in various heights which also come as sandals or with feather finishes and Art Deco references. The 15 shoe models designed for "a modern, unconventional bride" will arrive in stores in the spring, at a price point between €495 and €945.
Nodaleto traveled to Las Vegas to present this new line, where photographer Hugo Comte immortalized a campaign starring model Stella Maxwell. Under the creative direction of Leone, the bridal footwear was photographed in a vintage setting inspired by the improvised pop culture and casino themed weddings held in the Nevada chapels.
The footwear brand, led by the daughter of Sidney Toledano (chairman and CEO of LVMH Fashion Group), currently boasts a solid network of multi brand retailers in Europe, Asia and North America, which include Le Bon Marché, Dover Street Market and 10 Corso Como Milan. In addition to its own website, Nodaleto has an online presence in some of the leading e-commerce platforms, such as MatchesFashion or MyTheresa.
