Usually known for their stability, the realm of outdoor trade fairs has been disrupted. OutDoor, the Friedrichshafen European trade fair, announced a change of dates to the event as of 2017. Consequently, the event for outdoor sports specialists will no longer take place mid-July, but will instead take place next year from June 18 to the 21, and in 2018, from June 17 to the 20. Bringing the dates forward more accurately reflects the production cycle of brands and benefits the French who want to avoid coming the weekend of July 14. This year, the event will still take place July 13 to the 16.

In other news, Messe Friedrichshafen finally decided to debut the event on a Sunday. Until now, the event took place Wednesday to Saturday, preventing independent retailers to come and see the brands.

Of course, this decision was made together with the European Outdoor Group. The undying question which has long taunted sports specialist, is the eventual return of the Ispo summer edition. The Munich trade show filled up in the winter and was even easier to access for international visitors than Lake Constance.

Considering the difficulties encountered by action sport stakeholders, Messe München pampered sports specialists in January by placing them in the halls of the west entrance of the parc des expositions.
