Perry Ellis is expanding its Original Penguin brand to new markets in southern Africa through a new licensing agreement with Sector Apparel Group.

The company on Monday announced a new agreement with Sector Apparel for the distribution of Original Penguin men’s apparel at department stores, independent retailers and online in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Swaziland.

Founded in 2000, Sector Apparel distributes branded apparel clothing in southern Africa. The company currently distributes for Lee Jeans, Wrangler, The North Face, Fox Racing, Volcom, and O’Neill.

"We are delighted to welcome Sector Apparel Group to the Original Penguin family,” stated George Feldenkreis, Executive Chairman of Perry Ellis International. “Working with Sector Apparel Group will not only leverage the equity of this powerful brand but also continue our strategic initiative to expand our global reach."

The expansion of Original Penguin to the new countries is part of Perry Ellis’s plan for fiscal 2018. The company announced in March that it will focus on Original Penguin and its high growth brands, as well as strengthen its menswear business through wholesale, retail and licensing and continue its international distribution expansion.
