The British Fashion Council (BFC) has named Peter Pilotto as the winner of its 2014 BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund. As part of the prize, the label will not only receive a £200,000 grant to help finance the necessary infrastructure to take its business to the next stage, but also access to a high-level mentoring programme over the course of the next year.

The brand, headed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos, was launched in 2007 and has seen great success across the board, from dressing celebrities for the red carpet to launching an affordable collection with American retailing giant, Target.

"Christopher and Peter are deserved winners of this year’s fund award. They have remained true to their vision of a print and colour focused brand but have managed to expand and grow the business to a level where they can now compete on an international stage. It's a pleasure to be able to support them," said Alexandra Shulman, editor of British Vogue and chair of the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund.

The label beat out tough competition such as Emilia Wickstead and Mary Katrantzou to the prize. Zoe Jordan, Osman and House of Holland were also shortlisted for the prize.

Established in 2008 to help support emerging talent in Britain, the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund has had a helping hand in pushing previous winners, such as Nicholas Kirkwood, Erdem and Christopher Kane, to even greater heights.
