Peter Pilotto, one of London Fashion Week’s most happening houses, will stage its next runway show in Milan this September.

The duo of Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos will make their Italian debut in the storied Teatro Manzoni, named after the great Italian poet and novelist. The London-based label will unveil their spring/summer 2020 collection on the catwalk at 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18.

The house was founded in 2007 by Pilotto and De Vos, two designers who met while studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp – continental Europe’s single most prestigious fashion college.

“We are very honoured to join the Camera della Moda Italian Fashion Week calendar and engage on this new journey. We are also proud to represent British fashion abroad in such a key and sophisticated fashion capital as Milan,” the designer duo said in a release.

In the statement, the house promised to “offer a new fascinating, international playground for Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos,” whose ancestors “feature Italian, Austrian, Peruvian and Belgian roots.”

Known for their maximalist take on fashion, Peter Pilotto has been the recipients of numerous awards – from NewGen sponsorship by the British Fashion Council to the Swarovski Emerging Talent award of 2010 and even the BCF/Vogue Fashion Fund.

“Unique fabric innovations are the starting point of every collection, giving a cutting edge, distinctive twist to printmaking, intricate intarsia and sophisticated lace knits. The ability to link art and fashion comes naturally to the duo, who succeeded in expanding into the realm of furniture, interior design and beyond,” the release added.

Though majority-owned by the founders, Peter Pilotto is in part controlled by the London investment firm MH Luxe and Megha Mittal. A daughter-in-law of Britain’s richest man, Lakshmi Mittal, Megha also controls the German fashion label Escada.
