Safilo is accelerating its expansion in Latin America. The Italian eyewear company, controlled by Dutch investment firm Hal, has just opened a showroom in Mexico City. At 6,500 ft2, the space features the group's own brands as well as eyewear collections by brands for which it holds licenses, such as Dior, Fendi and Gucci

Angela Gomez oversees Latin America for Safilo

The opening “is part of a broader strategic plan focused on Latin America,” said Safilo in a statement, adding that the region, “which promises a rich potential for growth, has been recently overseen by Vice President Angela Gomez."

Gomez previously worked for 16 years at the IT company SAP, where she held senior positions, first at SAP Latin America, then as Vice President of SAP Services for Mexico and Central America.

Mexico and Brazil, which are considered priority markets for company, are prime targets for Safilo’s regional organization, which is headquartered in Miami.
