Given the sluggish economy of their domestic markets, brands are looking increasingly towards emerging markets with high growth potential. Giorgio Armani has just announced a partnership in India with Genesis Luxury Fashion Pvt. Ltd., a company specializing in the marketing and distribution of international luxury brands and part of the Indian fashion group Genesis Colors, which already distributes in this market with brands such as Canali, Paul Smith, Bottega Veneta, Jimmy Choo and Etro.

Genesis will be the exclusive partner of the Armani Group on Indian territory for the brands Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, AJ / Armani Jeans. The goal is "to expand its sales and distribution network in India in order to reach a wider audience through single-brand, multibrand and department stores," the company said in a statement.

The Italian label, which currently has one Giorgio Armani store and two Emporio Armani stores in New Delhi and Mumbai, is expected to open, thanks to this agreement, twenty outlets in the country's largest cities, from Chennai (Madras) to Bangalore via Calcutta.

The group is also active in China, where it arrived over ten years ago and where it opened its first store in Beijing in 1998. Today it is present in this market with over 200 outlets in forty cities representing all of its brands (Giorgio Armani, Armani Collezioni, AJ/Armani Jeans, 7 Armani, Armani Junior, A/X Armani Exchange et Armani Casa). The group has established various partnerships according to the lines marketed. It was also one of the first names in Western fashion to launch an online auction site in China with Emporio Armani in 2010.

The brand is also now entering South America, but has yet to officially announce partnerships.
