German jeweller Thomas Sabo is preparing to open stores in Italy, although the project is shrouded in secrecy with the company not yet having revealed in which cities the brand will debut.

The 32-year-old company, which specialises in ‘affordable’ jewellery,  watches and perfumes, also recently opened new headquarters in Germany, where 490 of its staff are based. It has another 1,860 employees worldwide.

The Italian debut will see it unveiling several ‘new’ products not currently available in Italy. Designed by creative director, Susanne Kölbli for autumn/winter 2016/17, they include Eternity rings, Together Forever wedding bands and Glam & Soul Diamonds solitaires.

Thomas Sabo currently operates about 300 stores in 75 countries on five continents, and works with some 2,800 trading partners worldwide, including leading airlines and cruise lines.

It has expanded beyond its original sterling silver jewellery roots with higher-end jewellery including yellow and rose gold plating and, in 2014, it launched a fine jewellery collection inspired by India and oriental culture, also featuring diamonds and other gems.
