Mulberry, the British luxury fashion brand, has welcomed its new creative director, Johnny Coca, who begun his role at the company on July 8.

He will lead the company's design team on women's and men's leather accessories, shoes, ready-to-wear and soft accessories and takes over after Emma Hill, who left the company in 2013.

The Spanish designer, who previously worked at Céline, said: "I am so happy to finally start my journey at Mulberry and it is with great enthusiasm that I embrace my new role as Creative Director. I am thrilled to share my vision with the creative teams in London but it is also crucial for me to spend as much time as possible at The Rookery and at The Willows, our factories in Somerset, as they are the heart of our brand, and craftsmanship is the soul of our products. It is truly an honour to work with the team to start a new chapter of the Mulberry story."

Mulberry CEO Thierry Andretta previously worked with Johnny at the LVMH group and commented: "It is such a pleasure to welcome one of the most talented designers in the industry to Mulberry and it will be exciting to watch the brand develop under Johnny's creative leadership."
