London-based fashion designer Georgia Hardinge and Universal Studios have partnered to launch a capsule collection for the upcoming action movie, 'The Mummy', the remake of the 1932 film that hits theaters on June 9.

The Mummy, which stars Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Russell Crowe, and Annabelle Wallis, is a reboot of The Mummy franchise that began in 1999 and a remake of the horror film that was directed by Karl Freund. Universal partnered with Hardinge on a capsule collection for the film for her signature sculptural style that lends itself to the film’s Egyptian theme.

"Georgia’s bold, brave, timeless style and vision is unique, there are few designers that are better suited to represent our movie,” said actress Annabelle Wallis. “It is an honor to have her collaborate and an even greater one to call her my best friend!"

The collaboration collection is comprised of 6 pieces that draw inspiration from the character, Ahmanet, in the 2017 film. Pieces such as the Mercury floor length dress, mid length dress and bomber jacket feature details within the film and traditional techniques, such as metallic satin fabrics to represent liquid mercury and a custom made zipper pull that resembles the Prodigium symbol.

"This collaboration has been a real adventure for the brand. The direction of the movie has been particularly inspiring due to its modern take on Egyptian culture,” said Hardinge. “I have been fortunate enough to visit the set, meet the cast and see the incredible amount of creativity put into this film. Above all, working alongside my best friend, Annabelle, who is starring in the movie, has given a new dimension to the collaboration."

Born in London in 1984, Hardinge graduated from the Parsons School of Design in Paris in 2008 and founded her sculptural namesake label two years later. Hardinge has garnered the attention of many brands and companies over the years, including Lancôme, which tapped the designer to create bottles for its skincare products, Génefique and Visionnaire; River Island, which launched a partnership collection with Hardinge; and the Victoria & Albert Museum that exhibited 40 pieces by Hardinge in 2016 as part of a collaboration with the Elephant Family Charity.

The GH x The Mummy capsule collection is currently available for pre-order on the Georgia Hardinge website and will be available only in France, Spain, USA, UK and the Middle East at retailers such as Young British Designers in the UK, Something British in Brazil, Le Studio in Ibiza and Mirage.
