It is something of a special collaboration that Flemish designer Glenn Martens, head of the label Y/Project, has signed up to. The collaboration comprises a six piece capsule collection made by the Honest by brand which was launched by the Belgian designer Bruno Pieters who is Delvaux and Hugo Hugo’s former Artistic Director. Bruno Pieters was also Glenn Martens’ mentor at the Royal Academy of Antwerp.

Founded in 2012, Bruno Pieters’ luxury fashion brand has produced 100 percent ethical collections for the past five years. Each design element, from the buttons to the lining to the label, can be traced back to the supplier and is made from natural and recycled materials.

After having collaborated with Amelie Pichard and Pamela Anderson, Calla, Rombaut, and Nicolas Andreas Taralis, the brand Honest by decided to entrust Glenn Martens with the task of creating a capsule collection. Martens, who released his first collection in 2012, has opted for a unisex look inspired by recent Y/Project designs.

The capsule collection from Honest by Y/Project, made in France, features a taupe gabardine trench coat with elongated epaulettes, a sky blue striped cotton double shirt, a skirt made from cupro (an artificial textile fibre) with an elastic waistband and detachable trouser legs, and blue denim jeans rolled up at the knee and kept in place by eighteenth century military cufflinks.

The collection was launched on Thursday on Honest by’s e-commerce site. The six pieces comprising the capsule collection range from 297 euros for the shirt with epaulettes to 1,323 euros for the trench coat.
